News & Reviews

March 2008

Chuck Berry said" I looked at my watch and it`s quarter to three" I just looked at mine and already it`s quarter to April. Yep already it`s March.

So far we have had some great gigs and some even better reviews from the Shows. Rex and The sonics have been knocking them dead at various venues with the Cliff and The Shadows Shows as Have Rex and the Premiers with the revamped Echoes Show highlighting more of the Late Great Bobby Darin.

Also on the home front Gabe has been `Elvis-ing` his new fans and our new show featuring Billy O`Rourke as Johnny O`Keefe has generated lots of interest.

For those of you who have not heard we are bringing back Lance Lipinsky and Dean Z in May / June for a series of shows in BrisVegas and up and down the Coast. A special addition to this years shows is Bobby Brookes Hamilton. Bobby hails from Vegas and is the son of the Legendary Rythm and Blues / Soul hitmaker Jackie Wilson. (Reet Petite etc.)

Bobby will primarily portray Little Richard, but in fact there will be a few character changes this year as I have invited Bobby, Lance and Dean to perform at selected Venues as Jackie Wilson, Buddy Holly and The Everly Brothers to promote the shows we intend to bring here in Oct / Nov this year titled:

Bobbys Soul Classics Show and Lance and Deans` Rock and Roll Riot Show. More on these soon.

December 2007

Well it`s been a great year for us, we kicked off 2007 with a great trip round the Usa, met up with some great people and made some great friends. Joe Esposito was particularly gracious person who freely gave us of his time and sent us off as his guests to catch up with Trent Carlini at the Sahara Casino.
We spent a full on ten days in Vegas. stayed at the Luxor, Met up with John Stuart, John is known as the father of the Legends in Concert Shows in the States, he also gave freely of his time and a very interesting and entertaining potted history of his life and times. John wouldn`t let us go without treating us to a special visit to The Imperial Palace where we caught up with Matt Lewis, Dan Meisner and Joe Messini who, among some other great performers where doing their thing as Elvis and The Blues Brothers.
Leaving Vegas we flew to Memphis where we caught up with Garry Hardy, Garry has a great show at the Blues Cafe in Memphis and boy do they serve some great spare ribs. After a few days we drove down to Tupelo and then over to a little town in Missisippi where we spent a couple of days with our friends Bob and his daughter Kerrie Lee.
We hit Mexico, Los Angeles and spent a wonderful week in New York where we visited the 911 site. Especially poignant for me as my Uncle (now retired) was once the Manager of the Four Seasons Hotel / restaurant in the Towers and we had visited him there.

In mid May Shawn Lance and Dean arrived from the States. From then on it was a wonderful roller coaster ride kicking off with the mighty Pine Rivers Rodz Rockers Festival on May 27. A great day, something for everyone, Family attractions, Classic cars and hot rods, Rock n Roll Bands followed by the Million Dollar Quartet show an estimated attendance of between seven and ten thousand people from all over Queensland attended the Days events.
Between the Rodz and Rockers day and Wintersun we had a great time at other venues with the King Killer and Cash shows.
From day one at W-sun it was full on showing the Guys around during the day then with a packed house every night, Lance performed in a guest spot at Twin Towns with Dean Vegas. Before returning home to thr U.s. the guys were treated to a visit to Aust Zoo and
also called in at The Thunderbird RnR Cafe at Mooloola then off to Grapeland to sing along with Elvis Parley.

December 3 2006

We had a great time during Oct / Nov while Lance was here, we caught the Elvis Concert, The Dwight Yoakam Concert and L.L. made lots of new friends. We had an interesting few moments on the freeway coming back from one of Dean Vegas` shows at Tweed Heads. just bad luck, there was a whole heap of bottles, bits of rock etc being thrown on to the motorway, one landed on the screen right in front of Lances face . At 110 k`s and 1am. it gave us a bit of a start.

It`ll happen again this Friday when the Cliff and The Shadow Show goes on.. Oh yeah, Cliff and The Shadows are at Caloundra Rsl Dec 18.

It`s a time consuming business keeping this website up to date, so if things dont get updated as often as you think it should I apologise.

more soon.
