BIG WIN FOR ROCK ‘N’ ROLL CLUB

Peter & Lyn went through the normal raising of children and watching TV on
Friday & Saturday nights year after year. As the children grew up, there was
a little more time to go out & one time his wife Lyn wanted him to dance
after having dinner at a restaurant etc but he would not get up unless the
floor was crowded or perhaps not dance at all as he would be embarrassed.

Peter had lost all confidence quoting things like “I have two left feet”,
“someone may watch”, I can’t dance, too hard” Apparently this a common story
with husbands and wives and women can relate to these comments.

Peter decided to do the right thing for his marriage and make his wife happy
by going along one night to Rock ‘n’ Roll dance lessons and giving it a go.
To the amazement of Lyn, he started to enjoy it and loved the Elvis Presley,
Buddy Holly type of music.

Now some 12 years later after retiring from dance competition achieving 14
Australian dance titles and Gold Medals in the Asia Pacific Masters, they
own their own Rock ‘n’ Roll dance club called Coast to Coast Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Now they share their love of music and dance with other seniors, families &
singles on the Gold Coast.

The Senior Card Business Excellence Awards was held on the 4th November 2005
at Jupiter’s Casino, Townsville with a presentation dinner. Senior Cards are
issued on application to residents of Queensland, 60 years & over. It allows
seniors to obtain special discounts on products & services. Peter & Lyn were
nominated because of their extra efforts to try to help people enjoy their
later years through dance and music and discounts they provide to seniors.

There were only 7 winners in Queensland. Over 9,000 eligible businesses had
the opportunity to win. Coast to Coast Rock ‘n’ Roll were the ONLY business
on the Gold Coast to win. The other 6 were in other parts of Queensland.

Coast to Coast entered a float in the 2004 an 2005 Wintersun parade and won
Best float the 1st year and Best novelty float the 2nd year. They will be
back again this year with live performances on the float by Ritchie Valens,
The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly.
